Dr. Ma. Laurice Jamero

Head - Resilience Lab, Manila Observatory

Dr. Ma. Laurice Jamero is the Coordinator of the Resilience Collaboratory of the Manila Observatory, spearheading science-to-impact initiatives on communicating and mainstreaming climate science into development planning in the Philippines. She is also a contributing author of the upcoming 6th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

As a climate resilience researcher, Lau works closely with leading climate scientists in producing downscaled climate projections, and then communicates highly technical climate information to local decision-makers. She promotes the uptake of scientific information by helping communities develop a strong understanding of potential climate impacts at the local level, and build their capacity to design useful adaptation strategies.

Lau graduated with a joint doctoral degree in Sustainability Science from the University of Tokyo and the United Nations University - Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability in 2018, with a research focus on climate change adaptation in small island communities.
